Fourth-Generation Kitsap Resident Receives WIA Services from KCR South Kitsap Center
Thor had run his own business as a tree specialist for the last 15 years, but was ready for a more stable, reliable, higher-paying position.
He attended WIA (Workforce Investment Act) workshops and classes at the South Kitsap Center where he gained invaluable knowledge. “The job search today is very different from what I remember,” he said. “You have to know and understand how to seek jobs online and use the computer.”
KCR Family Development Specialists encouraged him to pursue his Commercial Driver’s License. The week he completed the required 160 hours of classes, he received a call from KCR about “the perfect job.” He now works for the Kitsap County Public Works department.
